Updating website. Also, new announcements: Through the Eyes of the Undead is now available at Amazon from Library of the Living Dead Press here, featuring my short story "Dead Man's Kiss." (I hate using the term "my short story." It sounds the way you might refer to a dog you keep as an accessory -- oh, that's my Fido. Derogatory, no? Allow me to re-word: featuring the short story, "Dead Man's Kiss." There. I feel better now.)

Made updates to website. You'll have to bear with me, folks -- I'm just one person, and I maintain this website all by my lonesome. I finally got around to making more updates, you'll notice a new free fiction page, bare-bones as it is. As long as I'm not trampling on any 'zines copyrights, I intend to upload fiction that's been previously published alongside any fiction I feel like sharing for one reason or another. Uploaded .pdfs of "Tremble," and "The Veil," the latter previously published in The Monsters Next Door Magazine, in their November 2009 Road Trip Issue. Enjoy! Check the regular blog, too, if you want a peek inside my universe: www.myspace.com/martinrosehorror or http://MrMartinRose.blogspot.com

I know, I know, there's not enough of me to go around. In the meantime, guess what? That's right, don't hold your breath, you can read more fiction by moi. The latest short story in the Martin Rose canon is 'The Hungry Spirit," in the January issue of Necrotic Tissue, also featuring the excellent cover art of artist Nick Rose.

You can catch my latest story "The Veil" in The Monsters Next Door themed issue Road Trip, along with some other wonderful talents. Support small press if you can, if not, we won't hold it against you.

On November 7, I was fortunate enough to watch Jude Law in a performance of Hamlet at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York.

Anyone with the cash and the time should get their butt over to New York and watch this show. I've watched the more recent movie versions of Hamlet, notably, the Gibson and the Branagh version; each commendable in their own rite. Each version has a brooding Hamlet, but this one as portrayed by Jude Law blew me away. This is was a very intelligent, saracastic, embittered Hamlet, and it was amazing. The set design was spare, highlighting the actors. The ensemble cast was incredible, and I fear they were drowned out by Law's Hollywood reputation, as there was a gaggle of starfuckers waiting outside to trample him.

What made the night particularly interesting was the role of Some Asshole's Cell Phone. Of course, the Bard never got a chance to write this particular starring role into his masterpiece; how thoughtful that someone else did it for him. To top it off, the cell phone ring interceded just at the pivotal end scene, where Hamlet lays dying in Horatio's arms, the words: "And the rest . . . ."

( insert your favorite, obnoxious cell phone music here)

To Mr. Law's credit, he waited a beat; I suspect he was hoping the cell phone would suit the word to the action, and the action to the word.

" . . . is silence."

The latest news: Shadows of the Emerald City, due out October 15, from Northern Frights Publishing, including my short story "The King of Oz" - Click here for the publisher website.

Still waiting for the publisher date from Shadow City Press for Hideous Evermore Anthology, but the street date is looming . . .

Latest acceptances:

"Scanner Days, Starry Nights" - Modernist Press is publishing an anthology of short stories inspired by art, Art from Art Anthology, and then featuring those works of art. When I hear more regarding when the publication is anticipated, I'll post it here.

"The Veil" - The Monsters Next Door will be including this story in their themed Road Trip issue, due out in November, I believe.

Also, this month is the implementation of my guerilla marketing campaign, Killing Martin Rose.

The weekend in a nutshell:
Someone's wedding cake almost dropped on top of me. Told people that I hate children, so no, I will not be waking up after an open-bar event and riding on a train with a bunch of screaming brats, or I too, will be screaming. And perhaps pushing brats off a trestle.

Greetings! This serves as the first official Blog/News entry, keeping you up to date on all the irrelevant Martin Rose bullshit that you could care less about. After all, you should be doing something worth while with your time -- volunteering for a community service, or viewing porn.

Now that you're here, though, this is the latest news:

Autumn 2009 -- look forward to the release of Hideous Evermore anthology and Shadows of the Emerald City.
More importantly, my commute down the Route 9 corridor of South/Central Jersey has taken on freak show proportions. I've spotted my 2ND unicyclist on the shoulder. This is after the initial week in which I watched two Amish citizens (presumably on Rumspringa) skateboarding through West Creek. So far, this summer is competing with the summer I picked up two Kazahkstani (sp?) exchange students hitchhiking on the side of the road. I think the only encore for this kind of crazy shit is that Route 9 should split in half in front of my ailing VW Jetta and a War of the Worlds catastrophe should ensue.
For the curious, check back with the page regularly -- I'll be blogging and posting free stuff as much as possible, and updating the latest in my twisted universe.
